Nana Frimpomaa has called for an urgent national stakeholders discuss in the wake of the rastafarian admission saga at Achimota School.
The Leader of CPP who doubles as the CEO of Caring Kids International said our children have been made timid with low self esteem for too long with needless restrictions on their natural looks.
‘Most of our children in Schools have low self esteem and the love for self is absent hence these children are not able to give a quarter of themselves in doing anything developmental after school. We kill the potential of young people at school by insisting they cut their hair for no reason. Forceful hair cuts to scalp by history signifies slavery. This baseless age long practice has not added any thing positive to our educational system. It has not made us better people , poverty is still endemic, we sleep in filth all over the country, graduate unemployment is at its peak, corruption is at its all time record, Ghana with its much noice about scientist have not been able to produce our own Vaccine.
Am sorry , as a nation we cannot go on like this’
The Chair and Leader called for a total review of our educational and Training model adding that the current practice has not helped us in anyway.
She asked government to remove everything that are against the basic human rights of children and create a natural learning and training model that properly translates Academia to Development. And If anybody says No, ask yourself why the huge investment in Brazilian Hair after these girls finish school?
Why the rush to get their hairs fixed and braided on vacations and graduation? This is a systemic failure on the part of managers of our educational sector and we must take a critical look at it .
The charged press conference was attended by several media houses who took turns to ask relevant questions for clarity purposes.
AAIn conclusion, the CEO of Caring Kids International said ‘ This is why we need to open a national discuss on the issue and the discuss must come to a conclusion;
A conclusion that gives us statistics;
Statistics that show us the urgent need for total review educational and training review in our schools ‘ she said.
