Gnani is a small farming community in Yendi. Over a century, the most popular scenery in Gnani is the ‘customized camp harbouring 170 supposed witches and 88 wizards’ brought there from all parts of the northern region.
‘The very unpleasant scene at the Gnani Witch Camp calls for urgent rescue and I can’t comprehend how innocent human lives are wasted in this inhuman circumstances’ she said.

Nana Frimpomaa said the stories told her by these vulnerable human beings are chilling and sad. Scores of women and men have died at the Gnani Witch camp for lack of food, water and Sustainance. Others have been brutally assaulted before rescued to Gnani. Many have been forced to take Weedicide, Animal Blood, Corpse Bath Water and Faeces in a bid to confess being witches and wizards.
The Dwantoahemaa of Dormaa Traditional Area thanked the Chiefs of Gnani and Gambaga for supporting the women and promised to assist them to live normal lives.
