Mr President, We Need Measures Taken Against The Culture of Silence and Hardship in Ghana Not Covid

As the president Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo-Addo gears up to present update number 25 to the nation on measures taken against the spread of Covid19 at 8pm, many Ghanaians have called for the president to rather present measures taken against the Culture of Silence and the unbearable hardship especially among the youth.

Many Ghanaians seem fedup with the increasing deceit by Governments in power who consistently fail to provide jobs and opportunities for youth development and survival in the country. The recent ‘FixTheCountry” mantra is evident of increasing breakdown of state machinery in dealing with the basic needs of citizens. Sitting governments best bet is long talk and grammar and praise singing of non-reflective ahievements.

Gh Press has gathered that Ghanaians are not interested in ‘nó 25 Measure Taken Against Covid 19. ‘ We have stayed home, gotten hungry, can’t feed our families and it’s enough Mr President’. ‘ Some of us lost our jobs during Covid and survival is near ghost limits, we can’t access loans to start business, masloc has become a preserve of party people, fuel prizes have sky rocketed, we can’t afford to pay for electricity and water, airtime cost is killing and food stuff are on record high. No state can develope in such poor management’.

Worse of all, these proponent of freedom of speech have from the begining of this year caused fear and panic with unwarranted dismissals and arrest of people who criticize the government. All attempts to hit the street on ‘FixTheCountry’ demonstrations have been met with brutal police presence reminiscent of frontal enemy combatant.

Journalist have been silenced in a Rambo Style with ‘ Order From Above’ . Just recently Caleb of Citi tv was arrested and manhandled by security personnel. A Rambo Styled arrest of another journalist Zoe of Citi tv shocked the International community.

Captain Smart, a strong critic of state was fired by Angel Tv to go home and shut up siting ‘Order From Above’. Yes, it was Nana Addo who urged ghanaians to participate in the building of the country under his administration on the 7th of January 2017 but it feels now that the president of Ghana and his aparachies now require all Ghanaians to be spectators, not citizens. Anyone who tries to be a citizen of Ghana will face charges.

As if that’s not enough, the Convention People’s Party’s live show hosted by the chair and leader on Atinka TV has been ordered to stop- another ‘order from above’ indicator. All attempts by the party to seek concrete information on the actual rational behind the abrupt order has proved futile.

Ghanaians can only wait to hear what his Excellency Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo-Addo has to say.
