Many Ghanaians have come to accept that the most dreaded erratic power supply popularly referred to as “dumsor” is back. The population is however shocked by the justification for ‘Dumsiesie’ given by Ghana ‘Celebrity’ Energy Minister, Mathew Opoku Prempeh.
Napo boldly told Ghanaians that the problematic situation of intermittent power cuts is a side effect of fixing the energy sector. He calls it ‘Dumsiesie’ which means, off and fix. The Minister explained that the reasons why power cuts are happening is because of the ongoing works “So we have to put out the lights so that living sons of men who are hanging on high voltage transmission lines can do that work”.
While NPP sympathisers have given Napo a standing ovation in praise singing, some Ghanaians have discribed Napo’s justification for Dumsor as deceitful, shameful and a mockery of intelligence. ‘Africa leaders inability to accept failure only for party political expediency is chronic and has resulted in mistrust’.
No serious Energy Minister with all the intelligent engineers and imported expects will ever give such justification for a failure.
