The sudden death of the 1st vice chair of the Convention People’s Party Comrade Emmanuel Kodzo Apedo- Sodzinshie aka 2Sure in the Volta Region sent shocking waves to the entire party herachy and friends. Kodzo was laid to rest on Saturday October 30th at Aflao in the Ketu South District.
Comrade Emmanuel Sodzibshie was undoubtedly one of the hard working, committed and loyal members of the CPP tradition in the then Some/Aflao constituency during the first republic under the Dr Kwame Nkrumah’s regime.
During the 27 months of governance of this country by the PNP administration, Comrade Apedo served as a presidential staffer at the castle with special duties as the liaison between the office of the president and the volta elders of the party. After the dismise of Dr. Hillla Liman, he joined a faction of the PNC who left and joined the CPP; all desirous of ensuring Nkrumaist unity. When the name CPP was restored on 13th April 2000, he was also in the boat.
By dint of hard work and with a tenacity of purpose, he served as the volta region 1st vice chair of the party until his death. In a tribute by the convention people’s party, it was acknowledged that the icy hands of death has robbed the party of a nice selfless dedicated comrade in politics. This simple but effective man carried an ego and charisma that were difficult to recognize and accept.
Nana Frimpomaa leading the party’s delegation encouraged the family to keep the fire of our departed soul burning in the constituency as a symbol of love by joining the party and promoting its activities. The party made special cash donations to support the family. E-Connect Global Africa through it’s Executive Director Nana Frimpomaa donated 100 pieces of Area Care Hand Sanitizers.
The delegation later paid a courtesy call on Togbui Amenyafiti V, the Aflao king. Senior Comrade Christian Yao Ziga led the exchange of greetings at the palace while Moses Yirimambo, the National Organiser introduced the delegation. In an address by Togbui, he called on the CPP for Unity and challenged the party to campaign down the grassroot for effective electoral participation.
*_”It is assumed my people are NDC but I tell you if you go to them and sell your message, you would be amazed at the returns. Be bold ” he said. “Stop the internal fight and fight for political power because the electorates needs a third force. You can only be a third force by selling yourself and your message” he added._*
Nana Frimpomaa in her speech thanked Togbui for the warm reception and promised a frequent visit anytime she steps foot on his land. She appreciated Togbui Amenyafiti V on his demand for the completion of the negleted school block. As courtesy demands, 2 bottles of Schnapp and cash was presented.
In attendance were the National chair National organizer of the Convention People’s Party, National Administrator, Director of Elections, Regional Chairman Executives and special delegation from Greater Accra.
