Yendi constituency is located in the Northern Region of Ghana and holds significant political importance. It has its unique political dynamics shaped by various factors such as historical background, ethnic composition, and socio-economic challenges.
Geographically Yendi, a rapidly urbanising town located in the Yendi municipality, one of the 26 districts in the Northern Region of Ghana.
On the political front, the good people of Yendi have yearned for a new and multi-experienced candidate on the ballot paper to represent their best interest in Ghana’s Parliament in the name of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The choice of Hajia Abibata Shanni Mahama,the current Masloc Boss came not as a surprise as the candidate is a household name owned to her indispensable service to the the good people of Yendi.
Within the last ten years, Hajia Abibata Shanni Mahama has embarked on series of developmental projects to improve the socio-economic status of the people. Hajia Abibata built a Modern Technical and Vocational Institute to absorb and train the youth on economic skills aimed at sustaining their families. Hajia has facilitated scholarship packages to over 135 students of yendi and beyond. During the same period Hajia Abibata donated hundreds of dual desk to Yendi Senior High School.
Each year, on worlds menstrual day, Hajia Abibata supports Yendi basic school girls with sanitary kits to enhance their confidence during menstruation periods.
On the Agric-Business front, Hajia Abibata Shanni Mahama has supported over a thousand farmers with an acre of land to till. This, she has sustained from 2019 to 2022. To ensure healthy crops and bumper harvest, Hajia Abibata has supplied knapsack spray and farm inputs for four consecutive years.
With her vast knowledge base in management, administration, economics and human relations, Hajia Abibata has enjoyed the good will of the people of yendi especially delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), hence her choice to become the parliamentary candidate for Yendi constituency as favorite.
Last week end, while the NPP positioned itself to elect who becomes parliamentary candidate for Yendi, an Electoral Commission Official stationed at the Yendi New Patriotic Party primary was arrested by the police for allegedly pocketing hundreds of ballot papers meant for Hajia Abibata during the counting process. The EC official also used indelible ink to destroy some of their ballot papers to render it invalid in favour of the incombent.
This situation created confusion at the venue which halted the counting process due to the destruction of the counted ballot papers and some election materials.
Chief Executive Officer for MASLOC, Abibata Shanni Zakariah Mahama, has called in her supporter to keep calm while the NPP and Electoral Commission corrects the anomaly and declare her Parliamentary Candidate Elect for Yendi.
As long as we are concern, Hajia Abibata Shanni Zakariah is the winner in the Yendi NPP primary.
