In the wake of events leading to the election of parliamentary candidate to represent the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in 2024 elections, GhPress sampled public opinion on which candidate merits Yendi constituency as Parliamentary Candidate and why?

Here are five reasons why the people of Yendi think Hajia Abibata Mahama, a woman with multi-disciplinary skills set and competence should represent the Yendi constituency in parliament:

She has supplied girls with sanitary kits to boost their confidence during menstruation and sustained their mothers with soft loans for sustenance. She has prioritized educational initiatives, skills training, and job opportunities specifically targeting young girls and women, helping break the cycle of poverty and promoting social mobility.
5. Peacebuilding and conflict resolution: The Yendi constituency has witnessed conflicts and chieftancy disputes in the past. Hajia Abibata as representative in Parliament will play a significant role in peacebuilding efforts, using her non-confrontational approach, empathy, and consensus-building skills to promote dialogue, understanding, and reconciliation among various groups, fostering a stable and harmonious constituency.
