NPP’s Last-Minute Appointments: A Shameful Betrayal of Loyal Party Members -Nana Moses Antwi

A loyal member of the NPP, Nana Moses has taken a swipe on the decision by the Chief of Staff to revoke all Public Service appointments made after December 7 and described it as unfair—it is a calculated betrayal of hardworking NPP members who have dedicated their lives to the party. But beyond condemning this disgraceful act, Nana Moses  in an exclusive interview declared that NPP leadership mus be held accountable for its repeated failures.

History Repeats Itself—And NPP Never Learns

According to Nana Moses, this is not the first time the NPP has left its own supporters stranded. In 2008, after losing power, the party failed to protect its loyalists who had been given last-minute appointments. Fast forward to 2024, and here we are again—another election loss, another round of revoked appointments, and yet another group of faithful party members thrown under the bus.

Even more embarrassing, the NPP has copied the NDC’s exact blunder from 2016, when their rushed end-of-term appointments were also overturned. If our party leaders truly understand governance, why do they keep making these same rookie mistakes? Why do they wait until power is slipping from their hands before remembering their own people?

A Harsh Wake-Up Call to Betrayed Party Loyalists

To those affected by this revocation—do not be deceived again. The same leaders who abandoned you today will come begging for your votes tomorrow. When they return with empty promises, remind them of this betrayal. Hold them accountable, challenge their decisions, and if necessary, vote against those who put you in this situation.

A Broken System That Needs Urgent Change

In his recommendation, Nana Moses Antwi proposed that, If the NPP is serious about retaining power long-term, it must change its strategy immediately:

Appointments must be made early in government, not as a desperate last-minute maneuver.

Laws must be enacted to protect party loyalists from politically motivated dismissals.

Enough Is Enough—The Grassroots Must Take a Stand

NPP supporters must demand accountability from their leaders. Blind loyalty must end. If a leader does not act in the first years of governance, confront them early—don’t wait until the final hour when it’s too late.

The culture of last-minute fixes must stop. Leadership must develop a long-term governance plan that protects those who serve the party—not just when elections are near, but at all times.

Nana Moses added that if NPP truly values its people, it must act accordingly. And if the party’s leaders refuse to learn from their failures, they must face the consequences—at the ballot box.
