Nearly a week after security forces stormed the residence of former Finance Minister Kenneth Nana Yaw Ofori-Atta, the nation is still left in the dark about who authorized the operation. In a fiery statement, Musah Superior, a key figure in Ghana’s political landscape, has condemned the raid as an “odious invasion” and is demanding urgent answers.
President’s Silence and Security Forces’ Indifference
Despite the gravity of the situation, President John Mahama remains conspicuously silent, raising concerns about his commitment to constitutional governance. The military high command, the Defence Minister, the Chief of Defence Staff, and the Inspector General of Police have all shown what Musah Superior calls “absolute indifference” to the matter.

“Clearly, President Mahama has lost it. He has failed to protect a citizen as enshrined in the constitution of the Republic of Ghana,” Musah Superior stated. “This Rambo-like raid in a liberal democratic dispensation makes nonsense of constitutional governance and undermines the peace of the state!”
A Return to the Dark Days?
The brutal nature of the operation has left many questioning whether Ghana is sliding back into the dark days of military oppression, fear, and dictatorship. Musah Superior warns that the country is at a crossroads.

“What is happening to our country? Have the dark days of military brutality and attacks on democracy returned?” he asks. “Is the nation being reset to wallow in a dictatorship, fear, and anarchy?”
Where Are Ghana’s Civil Society Organizations?
Another critical concern raised is the apparent silence of Ghana’s Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), many of whom were vocal in condemning governance failures under the previous administration.
The deafening silence of the CSO community on this particular raid is troubling,” Musah Superior challenged. “I call on CDD, IMANI, and others to demonstrate the zeal they showed in their advocacy against ‘bad’ governance during the past administration. Your work is not complete after the NDC won power. Ghanaians will hold you accountable.
Call for Immediate Action
Musah Superior has issued a direct call to President Mahama: speak up and act now. He insists that an immediate investigation must be launched to uncover those responsible, and all individuals involved in the operation must be brought to justice.
The President must not stay aloof. He must make a public statement on this matter, cause an immediate investigation into this impunity, and ensure the arrest of all the persons involved to face the law
A Nation at a Crossroads
This incident has sent shockwaves through Ghana, igniting fears that democracy is under attack. Will President Mahama break his silence and address the nation? Will security forces be held accountable? Ghanaians are watching closely.
