Kadjebi, Oti Region — The people of Kadjebi and the wider NPP family are mourning the loss of one of their most revered sons, Lawyer Osei Nyame, also known as the Adontenhene of the Kadjebi Traditional Area. His final funeral rites will be observed this weekend in his hometown, marking the end of an era for both the traditional and political communities in Ghana’s Volta and Oti Regions.

The late Lawyer Osei Nyame will be laid in state on Friday, 25th April, from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM at the residence of the late Opanin D.H. Osei-Bonsu in Kadjebi. The burial service will follow on Saturday, 26th April at 9:00 AM at Post Office Square, Kadjebi, after which he will be laid to rest in a private ceremony. A Thanksgiving Service will be held in his honor on Sunday, 27th April at 9:00 AM at Emmanuel Presbyterian Church, Kadjebi. All friends, loved ones, and sympathizers are warmly invited to attend and pay their final respects.

Lawyer Osei Nyame was a formidable force in Ghanaian politics, a founding father of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in both the Volta and Oti Regions. He served as the 4th Regional Chairman of the NPP and was a prominent party financier whose efforts significantly shaped the party’s growth in the area. He was also the NPP parliamentary candidate in the landmark 1992 elections.

Beyond politics, he played critical roles in national development, having served as a board member of COCOBOD during President John Agyekum Kufuor’s administration, and also on the boards of the Amalgamated Bank (now Bank of Africa) and North Volta Rural Bank.
His passing has left a void in both the traditional leadership and political landscape of the Oti Region. Tributes have poured in from across the country, including from NPP stalwarts such as Felix Ade, the Oti Regional Organizer of the NPP, who described him as “a father, a mentor, and a cornerstone of our political heritage.”
Lawyer Osei Nyame’s legacy as a lawyer, traditional leader, political pioneer, and patriotic son of Ghana will never be forgotten. His final farewell promises to be a moment of great reflection and honor for a life well lived in service to country, community, and party.
