On Tuesday, April 29, 2025, Prince Obeng, Greater Accra Regional Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), led a delegation of constituency organisers from the region to pay a courtesy call on former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo at his residence in Nima, Accra.

The visit aimed to express appreciation for the former President’s leadership and to discuss pertinent issues concerning the party’s organisational structure and the country’s democratic principles.
During the meeting, the organisers advocated for a clearer definition of the role of constituency organisers within the NPP’s constitution. They proposed that this amendment be considered in the upcoming constitutional review and humbly requested that former President Akufo-Addo champion this cause.

The delegation also voiced concerns over perceived attempts by the current administration to undermine the judiciary, particularly regarding the suspension and potential removal of the Chief Justice. They emphasised that such actions should not be used to alter the constitutional provision limiting presidential terms.
Former President Akufo-Addo welcomed the delegation warmly and expressed his support for their initiatives. He encouraged party members to remain united and resilient, stating:

“Political parties win or lose elections. Yes, we have lost an election. But, I know we can come back. So, we should stop feeling sorry for ourselves. Let’s pick ourselves up, reorganise, and go forward as one. We should stop feeling sorry for ourselves and behave like we believe we can win back the trust of the people for 2028.”
The organisers found his words inspiring and reaffirmed their commitment to revitalising the party’s grassroots structures.
The meeting concluded with a renewed sense of purpose among the organisers, who pledged to work diligently towards the NPP’s resurgence in the 2028 elections.
